On April 22-23, the International Forum on Seafarer’s Education and Training took place in Odessa. Epsilon Hellas, always dedicated to the promotion of education and training of seafarers in Ukraine, was proud to be part of the event for the third year in a row, represented by our Safety and Quality Manager Mr. Vasilis Manolakos.
Mr. Manolakos gave a speech on the subject of “Effective Retention of Seafarers”, listing the causes of the current global shortage of seafarers and the factors that negatively influence retention levels. Mr. Manolakos introduced the idea of a human-oriented management as means of achieving effective retention and stressed the point that lies at the core of Epsilon Hellas’ culture i.e., that now more than ever the focus of the shipping industry should be shifting on the human element.
