Typhoon Project

EPSILON is proud to man the vessel MV TYPHOON – with full crew of Ukrainian/Indonesian nationality.

MV Typhoon is 72 meters long and in the past 5 years has assisted with the clean up of more than 3,300 beaches– with nearly 62 tons of waste from the sea. She is now in the second round of clean ups, sailing to inaccessible island coasts in Greece.

A few weeks ago during the ‘Our Ocean Conference’ Virginijus Sinkevičius, commissioner of EU responsible for the Environment, Oceans & Fisheries was given a guided tour by Evi Lazou-Laskaridis who is president of the “Athanasios K. Laskaridis Foundation’  which is the spearhead of the award-winning environmental program “Typhoon Project”.

Also during the visit, the Greek Prime Minister was present.

The foundation employs up to 10 cleaners to operate from the Typhoon to carry out beach clean ups from the vessel. The vessel also tackles in-water marine pollution from detergents, fertilisers and sewage which affect water quality and deplete dissolved oxygen in the water.
